Episode 29 Neale James Documentary Wedding Photographer

Episode 29 Neale James Documentary Wedding Photographer

Welcome to Episode 29 where we speak with the super talented smooth talking Documentary Wedding Photographer who's shot nearly 900 weddings so far! Neale is also film maker, voice over artist and Podcasting demon Neale James.

Neale originally came from the glorious world of Radio, where he and his smooth mellow voice graced the airwaves of Radio 1 for many years.

We have to say Neale is one talented and very busy man, he’s a busy documentary wedding photographer, a voice over artist, and he also runs 2 podcasts. One of which many of you will know as the Fujicast, which he hosts with his fellow partner in crime, and Fujifilm X Photographer Kevin Mullins.

On top of that still manages to host a daily podcast called ‘Photography Daily Podcast’ and even edits podcast shows for others.

We don’t know how he does it!

There’s no way we can cover all of Neale’s exploits in one podcast, so in this episode we try to understand a little about Neale and his work as a Documentary wedding Photographer.

We get the low down on how many weddings he photographs, how he does it, why he does it, and persuade him to share some of his methods and secrets, of his business and shooting techniques.

Of course we cover what kit he’s using for all his work, and also explore his ‘Photofilm’ product which he put together many years ago, and find out why it’s such a success!

Don’t forget, we have our fun mid show ‘Rapid Fire Round’, where we put Neale on the spot for a quick fire 10 questions, that may not always relate to photography and can also have some very bizarre answers..

Ben is an amazing creative who’s journey has included creating mind blowing surreal images using fire & water to photographing underwater with sharks to very meaningful environmental art installations and images that certainly come with a BIG message about our planet.

Von Wong is known for his big impact super creative photoshoots and art installations, his behind the scenes images and videos share everything about his projects for all to see, and some of them are mind blowing. We learn that a lot of his early projects were all about creating the image and collaborating with like minded creatives, about his passion which shows in his continued commitment.

Wayne & Jake talk with Ben about how his path on creating art has changed and shifted parallels over the years. How his direction has changed considerably and where will his journey take him next.

We chat about some of his past creative projects which include amazing imagery where he photograph’s the staff of smugmug as super heroes on the edge of tall skyscrapers to creating “’The parting of the Plastic Sea” Strawpocalypse’ a ‘Guinness World Record’ environmental art piece using 168,000 used straws.

Ben’s creative mind is out of this world, his concepts are amazing and his skill to bring these projects and art installations together, using the help of volunteers, is unparalleled.

Episode 26 COVID-19 Stay Creative and Create at Home

Episode 26 COVID-19 Stay Creative and Create at Home

First off, we want to say among all the chaos we are all enduring at the moment with this terrible global pandemic, we hope everyone is staying safe and well.

Our thoughts and well wishes also go out to all those directly affected by the COVID-19 virus.

In this episode, Wayne & Jake we briefly touch on the impact Covid-19 has had on all of us, and how its affected our business as Photographers and creatives.

In these current times of ‘lock down’ where most of us are in the ‘Stay at Home’ situation how do we stay creative and what can we do from home to remain creative as well as to help us keep a healthy mind. We know as creatives we get quite twitchy when we can’t get our creative jig on.

Join us as we discuss some of the things we’ve been doing to keep our creative minds occupied, turning our ‘should do’s’ into ‘have done’s’ and our ‘I want to do’s’ into ‘I’m doing them’.

We talk some about some serious stuff, some business stuff and some fun stuff too….

I think we all need to do something to make us laugh during these times, and we all know laughter can certainly help lift the mood….

Have fun with this one and remember, STAY IN AND STAY SAFE! - Our thoughts go out to everyone and thanks for being staying tuned in to our podcast.

Remember, if have a question about anything Photography or Video/Cinema related, we’d love to hear them, you can send your questions to podlamania@gmail.com

Episode 25 Archie Brooksbank Bladesman Productions Part 2

Welcome back to part 2 of this fun episode with Archie Brooksbank.

We dive straight into our fun feature on the show our ‘Rapid Fire Round’, where we put Archie on the spot with 10 very random questions.

On with the show and Archie tells us about a shoot he was on with the boxer ‘David Hayes’ where he accidentally stepped on his dog… the man wasn’t happy!

Are blue crocs the best shoe your feet can have to get the best feet party?

He shares how important it to wear a cravat or scarf to let people know you’re automatically creative.

Have DSLR’s and mirrorless stills cameras with great video features affected the moving image world of advertising, is there a place in our world now relevant for untapped creativity.

We talk about his documentary background and how working in tv has helped his story telling, and how shooting stills has really made him think more about his shots in moving image.

Archie shares some funny stories about filming with ACDC legend Brian Johnson, and the ‘Cars that Rock’ show.

BTS shots and video is becoming far more relevant for clients now, for ‘repurposing’ for other uses like social media.

We talk al little about Drones, or flying lawnmowers as Jake calls them, and how useful they are now.

A brilliant and very fun episode with Archie, who did so well under the pressures of Wayne & Jake, while suffering sleepless nights with a new born.. Congrats Archie!

Episode 22 Wayne Johns & Jake Hicks FILM IS NOT DEAD

Valentines Day Special with just Wayne Johns and Jake Hicks talking about everything analogue. Is film really dead?

Join Wayne and Jake as They discuss what role film and older analogue cameras has in todays photography market. Why should you pick up an old film camera? What are the benefits of going medium format over 35mm? Which medium format film camera should you jump in with?

We also get a little technical on the process involved of actually shooting film. What do we need to be aware of when shooting film over digital. Elements many modern photographers take for granted like adjusting the ISO, auto focus, White balance, and of course actually SEEING the image afterwards. How do we get some digital, sharable files from our film shots.
All of theses elements are major considerations in film, but are there actually any benefits to be had from shooting film beyond the simple ‘challenge’ itself? We take a step back from digital ‘perfection’ for a moment and embrace the ‘happy accidents’ that shooting with film can offer, and with it, the inevitable creativity that comes with that. If you’re feeling like your creatively and inspiration is waning, maybe it’s time to be inspired by film once again.

We also take a moment at the end to answer any listener questions with regards to film, but if you have any other questions about film and analogue that weren’t covered in this episode, we’d love to hear them.
