Fashion & Advertising Photographer

Welcome to Episode 30 where I dive into the mind of James Nader, a super creator in the Fashion & Advertising world.

James has photographers many Calendars in many beautiful locations with many celebrities, his location work is just so powerful and impactful.

As well as talking to him about his photography and location work James also has a great knowledge and insight into the business side of marketing yourself online, and this is where he shares how important it is to get on top of your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for your business and company to get found online.

We talk how the business and industry has changed, dive deep into some of his personal Fine Art projects and shoots, and talk about where his journey will take him next.

We discuss the problems shooting on location can throw up and what you have to do to get around it, why you have to be careful when shooting abroad and the risks it can carry when your clients don’t have all the right permits or concepts.

What does a 27 day calendar shoot on location feel like?

James shares his fears about studio lighting and why he prefers mother natures light and even continuous light. How you can capture amazing results with the cheapest of equipment, and outline why you don’t need to buy the most expensive equipment to get the best results.

I hit him with our infamous ’10 question Quick fire round’, listen to how he does in this one!

Episode 21 Alastair Jolly Lets talk Smugmug, Flickr and Smugmug Films

Episode 21 Alastair Jolly Lets talk SmugMug and Flickr

Alastair Jolly used to be a full time Wedding Photographer for 16 years, then left the industry, over 8 years ago, to take on the role of Global Marketing Manager for SmugMug, the very well known software company that provides website building and hosting services for Photographers and creatives.

A couple of years ago SmugMug purchased, or saved as Alastair liked to put it, the very well known photo social and sharing site Flickr.

Wayne and Jake dive a little into Alastair’s life as a photographer, we find out if being Scottish means you naturally like whisky, but we really get stuck into the world of SmugMug and Flickr.

Alastair tells us that both platforms are certainly very different and both offer users different tools for different things, but both support and compliment each other very well.

We were interested to see what SmugMug offers its users in terms of a website building and hosting platform and how easy it can be to create a beautiful looking website to share with the world and why it’s important to have that presence, and how they incorporate a print selling service into your website, than can help increase your profits.

Flickr are getting an upgrade, and we want to find out what’s happening, when and what it means for its 10’s of millions of users. Will the 2 platforms merge? Let’s find out!

Another thing that's come to our attention on the scene is SmugMug Films, let’s get into that one for sure, what’s it about and where can we see it…

SmugMug has been generous and given us a promo code for all our listeners; which will give you a massive 25% OFF- so if you’re in the market for a new website that's easy to put together and look really nice then follow the link below to take advantage of that one.

Episode 013_Peter Coulson ‘MORE BOOBS ON BUSES’ Fashion, Beauty and Fetish Photography

It's another double episode folks - In this episode, Wayne Johns and Jake Hicks get inside the head of world renowned Fashion, Beauty and Fetish Photographer Peter Coulson.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Peter is known for shooting beautiful black & white images and if you dive deep enough into his 'personal' work on his website you'll see a darker array of his personal projects which take a darker political side of the fine art world.

Peter is such a nice guy and holds nothing back about the way he works, what he likes and how he works. He shares with us, what sounds like the ultimate work, life balance in terms of what he shoots and how.

Is the age of the DSLR dead? - Peter gives us his views.

How would you like to shoot 50% of your work as what ever you want to shoot, Peter does.

He's an educator, very active on 'Youtube' and often does 'live streams' to some of his shoots...

If you haven't taken a tour of his studio on youtube, make sure you do... although it might make you a little jealous, I know it did for me and Jake.

Such a fun episode and a two parter as well.

In all honesty, we could of talked with Peter for hours.
